The majority of Hollywood celebrities wore red pins during the 96th Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre to show support for an Israel-Hamas truce.
The pin has a visually arresting design with a black heart in the center of a red circle and an open palm with orange stripes.
In support of Artists4Ceasefire, a group of artists who wrote an open letter to US President Joe Biden requesting a rapid de-escalation and cease-fire in the Gaza Strip, celebrities including Billie Eilish, Ramy Youssef, and Mark Ruffalo wore the pins.
The letter has been signed by over 400 actors, including Jennifer Lopez, America Ferrera, Bradley Cooper, Cate Blanchett, Drake, and Ben Affleck.
In the letter, it is said that “the pin symbolizes collective support for an immediate and permanent cease-fire, the release of all hostages, and for the urgent delivery of humanitarian aid to civilians in Gaza.”
