With adductor pain, David Warner withdrew from Sunday’s third and final Twenty20 series match between Australia and New Zealand in Auckland, Cricket Australia said on Saturday.
The 37-year-old did not play in Friday’s 72-run triumph over the Black Caps, as the Australians secured back-to-back victories over their hosts. He is retiring from all forms of international cricket following the T20 World Cup in June.
“Warner will require a brief recovery period, which is not expected to affect his availability for the upcoming Indian Premier League leading into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup,” said Cricket Australia in a statement.
In the first game of the bilateral international series, Warner scored 32 runs off of 20 balls in Wellington on Wednesday. However, the home crowd jeered him as he left the field.
