Today (Friday) is recognized as the 37th anniversary of the passing of the well-known Pakistani classical singer Ustad Chhote Ghulam Ali Khan.
In Kasur, Ustad Chhoty Ghulam Ali Khan was born into a musical household. Early musical instruction came from his father, Mian Imam Bakhsh, a well-known singer with a distinctive style.
Ustad Chhoty Ghulam Ali Khan became a skilled classical singer at a young age, performing well in songs like Ghazal, Thumri, Dadra, Tarana, and Khayal.
He has a long history of affiliation with the Lahore Arts Council.
Among Ustad Chhote Ghulam Ali Khan’s notable pupils are Qamar ul Zaman, Badrul Zaman, Shahida Parveen, and others.
He received the 1985 “Presidential Pride for Performance” award from the Pakistani government in appreciation of his noteworthy contributions to the music industry.
On December 29, 1986, Ustad Chhoty Ghulam Ali Khan passed away, leaving a distinguished legacy in the music world.
He is laid to rest in peace in Lahore’s Miani Sahib Graveyard.
