TFPC claims they told Nadigar Sangam about Dhanush a year ago: ‘They’re lying’

The Tamil Film Producers Council recently criticised Dhanush for failing to complete projects for which he had received advances, and the Nadigar Sangam defended him.

The Tamil cinema Producers’ Council (TFPC) has accused the cinema, television, and stage actors’ union Nadigar Sangam of lying, claiming that it was informed of producers experiencing financial difficulties as a result of players such as Dhanush’s refusal to commit to shoot dates. ‘I told them about Dhanush a year ago’
According to a TFPC statement issued on August 1, the producers’ group notified the Nadigar Sangam a year ago about five prominent performers whose ‘call sheets’ were “causing a lot of headaches” for producers. According to the statement, this was also covered by the media at the time. The TFPC met on Friday to consider the conclusions made public on July 29.

“It was only when Nadigar Sangam could not give any concrete solutions to us that we went public with our decisions, to safeguard our interests,” according to a statement. Aside from calling out Dhanush, the producers’ organization announced on July 29 that there will be no shooting beginning November 1 until the issue of increasing artist and technician expenses is resolved. The producers also stated that performers and technicians can only be signed on for new films when they have completed their current ones.

The TFPC has also called for a temporary ban on new film signings beginning August 15 to implement new criteria. The producers claimed they were compelled to establish new standards since numerous producers have been unable to screen their films owing to a lack of venues. The producers’ organization also asked that films starring famous names be released on OTT platforms only after being exhibited in theaters for eight weeks.

Nadigar Sangam defies the TFPC demands.

The producers’ requests have been greeted with significant pushback by The South Indian Artistes’ Association (SIAA), the official name of Nadigar Sangam.

The same day, on July 29, actor Karthi and a few other SIAA representatives told reporters that the TFPC’s decisions, particularly the one calling for a halt to film production beginning November 1, are “arbitrary and illegal” and would have an impact on the livelihoods of thousands of people involved in filmmaking.

They further claimed that Dhanush’s name was dropped by the producers’ body unexpectedly and without appropriate process. However, the TFPC remains resolute in its determination to halt film production beginning November 11 until new restrictions are in place.

“The Tamil Film Producers’ Association, Tamil Nadu Distributors’ Association, and Tamil Nadu Theatre and Multiplex Owners’ Association have all agreed to the choices. “It is only fair that Nadigar Sangam agrees to these terms,” the TFPC statement read.
