LAHORE – Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has stated that digital terrorism on social media poses a threat to the state.
Speaking to the media outside the Lahore High Court (LHC), she argued for controls, pointing out that social media is governed by norms all over the world.
She questioned the social media operation’s lack of rules and standards, noting that anyone may publish anything without being held accountable.
The minister claimed that social media was being abused under the guise of freedom of speech.
However, she stated that social media accounts will now be subject to rules, and that the government was not opposed to social media.
Bokhari highlighted the unregulated use of social media, claiming that it was being exploited for digital terrorism and that the state was not immune.
She referred to the Capitol Hill incident, stating that the accused were sentenced to seven years in prison for their role, but no one was held accountable in Pakistan.
She stated that the administration was planning to reduce electricity rates. She stated Awais Leghari verified that the prime minister had resolved the situation on his own.
Maryam Nawaz, the Chief Minister of Punjab, was distributing free solar panels to consumers who used up to 100 to 200 units of electricity.
The government will cover 90 percent of the cost of solar panels for protected households utilizing 200 to 500 units.
