LAHORE – Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar of the PTI-SIC has been named the opposition leader in the Punjab Assembly.
According to reports, PA Speaker Malik Ahmad Khan has named Bhachar the opposition leader and Pir Moeenuddin Qureshi the deputy opposition leader.
Notifications for Bhachar and Qureshi’s formal appointments have been issued.

Previously, the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) appointed Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar as Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, with Pir Moeenuddin Qureshi as his deputy. SIC chief Sahibzada Hamid Raza announced both nominations a few days ago.
In a statement, the SIC president lamented the fact that Mian Aslam Iqbal, who had been selected as the opposition leader in Punjab, was not even permitted to take oath as an assembly member.

Previously, the Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) selected Malik Ahmad Khan Bhachar as the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly, with Pir Moeenuddin Qureshi serving as his deputy. Sahibzada Hamid Raza, the SIC chief, announced both nominations a few days earlier.
In a statement, the SIC president criticized the fact that Mian Aslam Iqbal, who had been chosen as Punjab’s opposition leader, was not even allowed to take oath as an assembly member.
