Shabana Azmi’s international show Halo cancelled after 2 seasons

Shabana Azmi plays an important role in the science fiction series Halo. Despite the success of the previous seasons, the show’s third season was cancelled.

Halo, Shabana Azmi’s international military science-fiction series, has been terminated after two seasons. Despite two great seasons, the third installment will not be part of the Paramount Plus franchise. According to Variety, co-producers Xbox, Amblin TV, and 343 Industries plan to market the series to additional sources. The report quoted a Paramount + statement that read, “We are extremely proud of this ambitious series and would like to thank our partners at Xbox, 343 Industries, and Amblin Television, as well as showrunner and executive producer David Wiener, his fellow executive producers, the entire cast led by Pablo Schreiber as Master Chief, and the amazing crew for all of their outstanding work.” We wish everyone the best in the future.”

Shabana Azmi praised Halo for colorblind casting.
In an interview with Variety, Shabana praised the show’s casting, adding, “Asian actors have been saying that they were really struggling for color blind casting, because they were saying why should the Caucasian be recognized as the mainstream?,” Azmi inquired. “And why if Laurence Olivier can play Othello?” Then why can’t an Asian actor do it? And now that I’m doing ‘Halo,’ I know that they’ve really had color blind casting, because despite the fact that I portray Margaret Parangosky, I haven’t been asked to change my accent, the color of my eyes remains the same, and they didn’t color my hair.”

.Pablo Schreiber played Master Chief John-117, a genetically modified super soldier and member of an exclusive force known as the Spartans, in Halo. Shabana Azmi also starred in the series as Admiral Margaret Parangosky. The cast comprised Natascha McElhone, Jen Taylor, Bokeem Woodbine, Natasha Culzac, Olive Gray, Yerin Ha, Bentley Kalu, Kate Kennedy, Charlie Murphy, and Danny Sapani.

Halo was originally conceived as a film with Neill Blomkamp in 2005. However, after several years of production, it debuted as a show on Paramount+ in 2022. Halo is set in the 26th century and centered around humanity’s struggle with an alien group known as the Covenant.

Steven Spielberg, who owns Amblin TV, has also funded the series.
