ISLAMABAD-The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast dust-thunderstorm rain in the country’s upper regions from June 4 to 7, which will reduce the intensity of hot weather conditions.
Following this week’s rain, heatwave conditions will subside, providing citizens with relief from the sweltering heat.
A shallow westerly wave was expected to enter the upper and central parts of the country on Tuesday evening or night and may persist for the next three days.
Under the influence of this weather system, rain-wind/thunderstorm is expected in Gilgit-Baltistan including Diamir, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche, Shigar), Kashmir (Neelum valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli
Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber, and Mirpur from June 3 (evening/night) to June 8, with occasional interruptions.
Duststorm/thunderstorm with rain is expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from June 4 (evening/night) to June 8, with occasional gaps.
From June 04-06, a duststorm/thunderstorm with rain is expected in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali, with occasional gaps.
Duststorm/thunderstorm with isolated rain is expected in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sahiwal, Multan, and Layyah from June 5 (evening/night) to June 7.
A duststorm/thunderstorm with isolated rain is expected in Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, Sherani, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, and Barkhan from June 5 (Evening/night) to June 7, with occasional gaps.
Duststorm/gusty winds with isolated rain-thunderstorms are expected in Sukkur, Jacobabad, Kashmore, and Larkana on June 06 and 07, respectively.
The PMD stated that duststorm/windstorm and lightning may disrupt daily routines, standing crops, loose structures such as electric poles, vehicles, and solar panels during the period.
Heatwave conditions are expected to ease in the country during the forecast period.
All concerned authorities are advised to remain vigilant and take the necessary precautions to avoid any untoward situations.
