ISLAMABAD –Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, a PTI leader, has criticized the lower court’s failure to issue a ruling in the case concerning former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s alleged illegitimate marriage to Bushra Bibi, calling it a ‘travesty of justice’ and a ‘pre-planned scheme’.
On Wednesday, the district and sessions court in Islamabad did not announce the verdict. Instead, Judge Shahrukh Arjumand requested a transfer of the case.
Interacting with the media alongside Shibli Faraz, Gohar revealed that both Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi had given their testimony to the court, but the judge was allegedly under pressure not to pronounce the decision.
“This is not justice; it violates fundamental rights. It’s a farce of justice,” Gohar remarked, pointing out that the case, which should have been resolved in two days, did not allow them to present evidence.
Despite the defeats, Gohar maintained faith in the judiciary.
Gohar further stated that Bushra Bibi’s former husband, Khawar Maneka, participated in lewd discussion in court during his permitted time.
PTI leader Shibli Faraz expressed similar comments, calling Maneka’s attitude [in court] indecent and vulgar. He believed that the court should have interfered to stop him.
The PTI leader observed that the judiciary was clearly fighting for its existence at this moment.
