More details
Kalki 2898 AD is described as a mythology-inspired sci-fi spectacle set in the future. Last Monday, filmmaker Nag Ashwin debuted a video featuring Bhairava’s (Prabhas) sidekick, a robot named Bujji, spoken by Keerthy Suresh. The crew worked on the car for four years before revealing it at an event in Hyderabad.
In response to a clip that introduced Bujji, Amitabh wrote a note that read, “When you work on such projects, you never know what the end results will be… and as the days pass, and the clips and finer points begin to appear… you wonder how in hell did the Director conceive all of this… and the admiration never stops… Now, I conclude this DAY with astonishment and admiration.” The film was originally slated for release on May 9. It will now be released on June 27.
Nag previously discussed the inspiration for the film at the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, saying, “The film begins with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It covers 6,000 years in time. We attempted to develop universes, envisioning what they would be like while being Indian and avoiding a Blade Runner aesthetic.
