ISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to China for a five-day official visit next week at the request of the Chinese leadership.
According to the foreign office, the prime minister will meet with President Xi Jinping and have delegation-level talks with Premier Li Qiang in Beijing.
The two sides will have talks to boost the all-weather strategic cooperative partnership, upgrade CPEC, develop trade and investment, and expand cooperation in security and defense, energy, space, science, and technology.
The prime minister will also meet with the Chairman of the National People’s Congress’ Standing Committee and the chiefs of important government departments.
According to the foreign office spokeswoman, one of the prime minister’s priorities during his tour would be to meet with executives from prominent Chinese enterprises in oil and gas, energy, ICT, and new technologies.
The prime minister will speak at the Pakistan-China Business Forum in Shenzhen, China. He will also visit China’s commercial and agricultural zones.
According to the foreign office, the prime minister’s visit exemplifies China-Pakistan’s strong relationship, which is marked by regular high-level interactions and dialogues.
Earlier, the prime minister asked the relevant authorities to develop an action plan to encourage Chinese companies to establish enterprises in Pakistan.

On Friday, while chairing a meeting in Islamabad on his planned visit to China, he told Chinese industrialists and investors that Pakistan will provide them with every available facility.
During his visit to China, the prime minister instructed officials to develop a comprehensive plan for productive business-to-business meetings between the two countries.
The prime minister received a detailed briefing on the preparations for his visit to China.
A team of Pakistani businessmen, investors, and entrepreneurs will follow Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on his visit to the Chinese city of Shenzhen.
The group will meet with the Chinese business community to discuss how to improve bilateral economic connections.
The prime minister asked the Pakistani ambassador in China to extend all possible support to the Pakistani business delegation in China.
