ISLAMABAD – During their visit to Pakistan, a group from the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by Sultan Bin Abdul Rehman Al Marshad, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), met with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and discussed ongoing projects in Pakistan.
The prime minister welcomed the group and praised the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Pakistan’s long-standing alliance, as well as SFD’s efforts to provide assistance to Pakistan in areas such as health, energy, infrastructure, and education, as well as the recent floods.
The CEO of SFD thanked the Prime Minister and the Government of Pakistan for their kind welcome and hospitality, as well as the presentation of the National Civil Award, Hilal-e-Quaid-e-Azam.
The premier also praised the signing of $107 million in financial agreements between SFD and the Government of Pakistan for the construction of hydropower stations in AJK, which would not only provide clean energy but would also help eradicate the threat of deforestation, as well as provide job opportunities for the locals.
The CEO of SFD provided updates to the Prime Minister on ongoing projects such as the Mohmand Multi-purpose Hydropower Project, the Golan Gol Hydropower Project, the Malakand Regional Development Project, and other projects funded by Saudi funding.
While appreciating the SFD’s support, the prime minister emphasized the importance of expediting the processing of new green energy and infrastructure projects shared with the SFD, which, once implemented, would contribute significantly to the country’s economic revival while also meeting the needs of local communities.
The CEO of SFD pledged early processing of the joint projects and emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the Royal Family, will provide all necessary aid and ongoing support to Pakistan.
He congratulated the CEO and the delegation and sent his best wishes to all members of the Royal Family, particularly Khadim-e-Harmain Sharifain.
