ISLAMABAD – On Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Association of Electronic Media Editors and News Directors.
In his greeting, the prime minister praised the critical role that editors and news directors play in supporting positive journalism in the country.
He expressed his hope that AMEND’s newly elected President, Azhar Abbas, Senior Vice President Ayaz Khan, Vice President Muhammad Usman, Secretary General Tariq Mehmood, and other officeholders would play an important role in promoting freedom of expression, strengthening democracy, and highlighting social concerns.
The prime minister referred to the media as the fourth pillar of the state and promised that the government would provide all necessary assistance to AEMEND for the development and modernization of the media business.
