ISLAMABAD-The administration and affiliated parties have declared a day of mourning today (Friday) in solidarity with Palestinian brothers and sisters and to condemn Israeli state-sponsored terrorism in Palestine.
A consultative meeting of the allied parties on the deteriorating situation in Palestine announced in a joint declaration that the nation would offer a funeral prayer in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh, chief of the Hamas Political Bureau, who was assassinated in Tehran on Wednesday, after Friday prayers.
The conference, presided over by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, also decided to deliver a resolution to parliament expressing full sympathy with the Palestinian people.
Participants in the meeting decried Israel’s continuous brutalities in Palestine over the last nine months and expressed complete sympathy with their Palestinian brothers and sisters.
They also conveyed their sincere sadness and grief over the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh.
They believed that the death of the Hamas leader was part of a scheme to undermine attempts to put an end to Israel’s atrocities against Palestinians and create regional peace. Such incidents shattered global tranquility.
The Prime Minister described the continued Israeli state-sponsored terrorism in Palestine as a tragedy for the Muslim Ummah.
The assembly urged that unarmed Palestinians receive prompt humanitarian relief.
It was resolved that Pakistan will continue to offer relief items while also taking effective measures to aid the oppressed Palestinian brothers and sisters with their medical needs. It was also decided that the injured Palestinians would be transported to Pakistan for treatment.
The summit also resolved that Palestinian medical students will be admitted to medical institutes in Pakistan and receive financial aid to finish their education.
The participants believed that Israel was breaching United Nations resolutions, International Court of Justice decisions, and international laws by continuing to commit genocide and state-sponsored terrorism in Palestine, while the rest of the world remained quiet spectators.
They urged the international community to take a firm stance against Israeli brutality, as failure to do so would call international laws and institutions into doubt for future generations.
The gathering also encouraged the international world, especially the United Nations, to break their silence and quickly end the ongoing genocide of oppressed Palestinians by Zionist forces, as well as bring Israel to justice for war crimes.
The meeting was attended by leaders and senior delegates from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Pakistan Muslim League-Zia, and National Party.
