The 17th anniversary of the legendary composer and music director Nisar Bazmi’s passing.
On December 1, 1924, Nisar Ahmed was born in Mumbai to a devout family. He became Bazmi in order to pursue a career in cinema music.
At the age of 13, he began studying music and quickly became proficient on a variety of instruments.
His first composed songs were played on the Bombay Radio Station in 1944 after he was employed as an artist by the “All India Radio” in 1939.
When Jumna Paar, his debut film, was released in 1946, it instantly made him a premier composer.
More than 40 Indian films have had songs written by Bazmi, 28 of which were released prior to his migration to Pakistan.
In addition, he wrote songs for Mehdi Hassan and Runa Laila, two renowned vocalists.
He wrote the soundtracks for over 60 Pakistani motion pictures.
On March 22, 2007, Nisar Bazmi passed away in Karachi.
