Samsung is rumored to include satellite connectivity in the next Galaxy S25 Ultra, a long-awaited feature that was noticeably lacking from the Galaxy S24 series.
This feature, discovered after a thorough review of Samsung app codes by Android Authority, represents a substantial advance for the next generation of Galaxy handsets.
The inquiry turned up references in Samsung’s phone app, such as “You’re in satellite mode.” You can send text messages, including to 911. Emergency calls may still connect if a mobile network is nearby,” and “Text messages can be sent and received in Satellite mode. Emergency calls may still connect if there is a mobile network nearby.”
Samsung has spent several years improving satellite communication capabilities. Despite previous rumors, the feature did not appear on the Galaxy S23 and S24 devices.
In contrast, Apple has successfully implemented a satellite emergency calling capability in its smartphones, while Google is introducing expanded satellite support into Android 15.
With advances in satellite communication and Google’s integration into Android, the Galaxy S25 Ultra—and maybe the entire S25 lineup—is set to bring these space-bound services to Samsung consumers.
