Neha Dhupia spoke up about how a show’s creators fired her because she became pregnant. She also discussed refusing to drop weight for a project.
Neha Dhupia spoke up about losing a project after alerting the show’s producers about her pregnancy. In an interview with Zoom, the actor and chat show host did not reveal any identities, but she did recollect comments about her weight. She claimed she had been fired not only because of her appearance, but also because she refused to lose weight. Neha and actor-husband Angad Bedi have a daughter, Mehr, and a boy named Guriq. ‘People have said and done absurd things.’
Neha Dhupia stated, “When I first started in the business, there was a conventional mould that women were meant to fit into, and if you didn’t fit into that mould, you weren’t good enough. People are more diverse now, and casting is more authentic, yet things still happen. I was fired for having a sharp face and refusing to reduce 7 to 10 kg from a body that I thought was highly fit by my definition.”
She said, “When I was pregnant, I was sacked from a show I was on, and there was no news of that show being shot for the next 8 months. When I revealed to them that I was pregnant and that they would not be shooting for 8 months, they simply replied no, we do not want to work with you. I am referring to those who have said and done unreasonable things, but I am fine now; at the time, it bothered you.”
Neha’s OTT series premiere
Neha Dhupia anchors the celebrity discussion show No Filter Neha. Neha is also preparing to make her OTT series debut with Therapy Sherapy, a humorous show that examines contemporary human interactions through the lens of a nuclear family.
Neha was recently quoted by news agency PTI as saying, “I am thrilled to be part of this wonderful project that not only marks my debut in the OTT series space, it’s a fun concept, and I can’t wait to explore a whole new gamut of quirks that the project and script tied in with it.”
