ISLAMABAD – The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) issued a notice to relevant agencies and the public, citing the Federal Flood Commission’s projection of flooding in the higher portions of the Kabul River owing to heavy rains.
According to the NDMA spokesperson, the areas of Nowshera and Charsadda may be affected by the flood scenario from April 27 to 30, and the NDMA has asked all responsible agencies, including the PDMA, to be prepared to deal with any emergency.
It recommended relevant institutions to identify possible danger areas and take timely action.
The relevant institutions should ensure the prompt availability of necessary machinery and equipment in flood-prone locations, as well as publish guidelines for public awareness measures in prospective flood-prone areas, and avoid crossing streams when the current is strong, it stated.
Residents of river-connected areas should call the local authorities, while locals should be alert of weather conditions and avoid flooding in low-lying streams.
