LAHORE – Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would once again lead the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, former Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah declared on Friday.
His statement came after a critical meeting of the PML-N Punjab chapter, where party members and office-bearers unanimously approved a resolution to name Nawaz Sharif the PML-N president.
“A controversial judicial judgment forced Mian Nawaz Sharif to step down as PML-N president. All hurdles to repression have been overcome, and he stands vindicated. “The PML-N will move forward under his leadership,” Sanaullah stated during a media interview.
“Mian Nawaz Sharif has been requested to reassume the charge of the PML-N.”
Sanaullah said that the former prime minister was forcibly removed from the party in 2017.
He stated that, while [incumbent PML-N president] Shehbaz Sharif worked tirelessly to save the country from economic challenges, Nawaz Sharif taking leadership of the party will assist overcome inadequacies and weaknesses.
Sanaullah, backed by party officials Javed Latif and Khurram Dastgir, stated that the PML-N was a democratic and political party, adding that “there’s no hindrance in expressing opinions within the PML-N”.
He added that the PML-N would offer its political manifesto to Pakistan’s people in the coming weeks.
Sanaullah stated that a leader’s role was one of dignity and respect, and that operational leadership in the PML-N belonged to the president.
Sanaullah stated that Shehbaz Sharif completed all tasks with Nawaz Sharif’s permission.
He mentioned Maryam Nawaz’s attempts to win the hearts of Punjabis.
RESOLUTION
Earlier, PML-N leaders and office-bearers passed a resolution expressing full trust in Nawaz Sharif’s leadership.
According to the resolution, Nawaz Sharif was disqualified in 2017 as part of a plot and was forcibly removed from the PML-N presidency.
The resolutions state that now that conspiratorial directives and fabricated punishments have been completed, Allah Almighty has granted prosperity to leader Nawaz Sharif.
The PML-N urges its leader Nawaz Sharif to take over the party leadership so that the party can achieve new heights of public popularity under his inspiring leadership, it adds.
The resolution further declares that the organisation, particularly the Punjab leadership, congratulates the party leadership on their resounding victory in the by-elections.
In the resolution, the PML-N also condemned Zionist atrocities in Palestine and stressed the need for the party leadership to make more efforts to end injustices against innocent Palestinian children and women, as well as to promote peace.
