Nation celebrates 26th Youm-e-Takbeer today

The nation celebrates the 26th Youm.ISLAMABADYoum-e-Takbeer, the anniversary of Pakistan’s atomic blasts in 1998, is being commemorated today (Tuesday) with a commitment to strengthen the country economically and militarily.

Every year on May 28, the day is observed to commemorate the conduct of nuclear tests on the same day in 1998, making the world’s seventh nuclear nation and the first Islamic state to have a nuclear arsenal.

Pakistan conducted nuclear tests in the Rasko hills of Chaghi district, Balochistan, in retaliation to India’s five nuclear explosions, which threatened Pakistan’s security.

These nuclear tests sent a clear message to the world that, while Pakistan is a peaceful country, it cannot neglect its defense needs and is capable of facing any challenge.

The detonation of nuclear weapons on May 28, 1998, marked the culmination of Prime Minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s brave voyage to make the country’s defense unbreakable against arch enemy India.

The plan began with meager resources but an unwavering determination and desire to ensure that the country become a sovereign and strong state incapable of being coerced by foreign nations.

Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s and the nation’s dreams came realized in 1998, when then-Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif held fast despite all pressures to admit Pakistan in the nuclear club by detonating a bomb in Chagai.

Our nation’s resolve and determination, as well as its leadership, cleared the way for us to reach this milestone.

There was also a hidden power behind this feat, a great national hero named Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan, who faced all dangers to the nation and his own life with unwavering determination and conviction.

President Ziaul Haq did little to no work to advance Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto’s nuclear program, and despite all objections, the public cannot disregard his contribution.

GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES PUBLIC HOLIDAY

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif declared a public holiday on May 28 to commemorate Youm-e-Takbeer, the day Pakistan’s defence became impenetrable following nuclear tests in the hills of Chagai, Balochistan.

Youm-e-Takbeer reminds the Pakistani population of the need of unity in ensuring the country’s defense, according to a statement issued by the PM House.

He stated that on this day in 1998, the entire nation decided for the country’s integrity and will not compromise by accepting any external pressure on national defense.

He stated that Youm-e-Takbeer was a day for renewing the vow to always oppose the evil schemes of both external and domestic foes who seek to damage the country through chaotic politics.

“This is also a day to pay appreciation to the efforts made by then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan Army to strengthen the national defense.

Youm-e-Takbeer will be zealously honored today (Tuesday) in remembrance of the nuclear tests conducted on May 28, 1998, which rendered the country’s defense impenetrable.

The day marked Pakistan’s status as the world’s seventh nuclear power and the first Muslim state to have a nuclear arsenal in its defense stockpile for maximum deterrence for peaceful purposes.

Resisting rising external pressures, then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif made the daring decision to test Pakistan’s nuclear weapons, therefore balancing strategic slanting power in the region.
