(Web Desk) – National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq suspended Jamshed Ahmad Khan Dasti and Muhammad Iqbal Khan’s memberships for the current session on Friday due to their use of foul language during the presidential address the day before.
During President Asif Ali Zardari’s inaugural address to the 16th National Assembly on Thursday, members from the opposition benches, led by the PTI, caused a commotion.
The House approved a motion made by the speaker to suspend Jamshed Ahmad Khan Dasti and Muhammad Iqbal Khan.
The motion went on to say, “Jamshed Dasti and Muhammad Iqbal, MNAs, used abusive language and approached the speaker’s dais in a threatening manner, which is unacceptable.”
The resolution went on to state that their disruptive behavior, which included blowing whistles and trumpets, screaming unpleasant slogans, and waving banners and placards, breached the House’s sanctity and the regulations specified in the regulations of Procedure and Conduct of Business of 2007.
Citing Rule 21 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the National Assembly, as well as Rule 33 of the Parliament Joint Sitting Rules, 1973, the speaker named them and ordered their removal from membership.
This decision was made in conformity with established rules and procedures to ensure the dignity and integrity of legislative proceedings.
