LAHORE – Mohsin Naqvi, the federal interior minister, claims to have reported all of his holdings in the election commission disclosure.
Speaking to the media in Lahore on Thursday, Naqvi stated that his wife had held property in Dubai since 2017, which was sold in 2023. He stated that his wife owns property in London as well.
Naqvi emphasized the need of examining individuals named in the Dubai leaks to determine whether any criminal funds were used to purchase abroad properties.
Naqvi clarified his position, claiming that all relevant information, including property transfers, was included in his election disclosures.
Naqvi emphasized that the property in question was purchased a decade ago, when he held no governmental office.
The minister expressed dissatisfaction of singling out individuals with overseas properties, citing the presence of thousands of such cases and calling for a focus on those who fail to report their assets.
He highlighted that legitimate commercial ventures, including foreign investments, should not be demonized but rather encouraged.
Naqvi decried the poor representation of business personalities in Pakistan, citing India’s helpful climate for businessmen, and advocated for fair treatment.
