‘Kareena Kapoor follows Christianity, I used to play hymns for her kids’: Taimur Ali Khan’s nanny

According to their previous nanny, Kareena Kapoor would ask her to play hymns for Taimur Ali Khan and brother Jehangir Ali Khan aka Jeh to help them retain ‘positivity’.

Kareena Kapoor married Saif Ali Khan in 2012, and they have two sons: Taimur Ali Khan (born in 2016) and Jehangir Ali Khan (coming in 2021). In an interview with Pinkvilla, their former nanny, Lalita Dsilva, revealed insights about the Pataudi family and how religion influences the children’s upbringing. ‘I used to play hymns.’
Lalita Dsilva stated, “Kareena Kapoor follows Christianity, and her mother (Taimur and Jehangir) also follows Christianity. Toh mujhe kahti thi, ‘Aapko acha lagta hai hymns lagana toh aap hyms lagayiye’. I used to perform hymns for them. Phir she (Kareena) used to claim that the Punjabi hymn, Ik Onkar, toh woh laga dete the (The children’s mother) follows Christianity. So she’d urge me, ‘If you enjoy hymns, play hymns’. I used to play Ik Onkar too since she liked it).”
Lalita continued, “Because she (Kareena) understands that yeh positivism honi zaroori hoti hai bacho ke aas paas. Theek hai ye aapki option hoti hai… but bacho ka right from the beginning agar aap nice vibes se start karo parenting toh woh unme already inbred ho jati hai (Kareena understands the need of creating a pleasant atmosphere for children. Of course, you have a choice, but if you remain positive from the start, it becomes ingrained in the children).

A Redditor wrote: “I thought this was a well known thing, I have seen Kareena, Karisma Kapoor, Malaika Arora and Amrita Arora along with their mothers at Mount Mary Church many times.” Another person asked, “Are the Arora sisters also Christians? Personally, I don’t believe in any religion or the concept of religion in general, but if it makes her happy, that’s great.

Lalita, who currently works as a nanny for Ram Charan and wife Upasana’s daughter Klin Kaara, recently spoke with the Hindustan Times about the Pataudis. She stated, “Kareena is an excellent mother; she is very disciplined, and her children are also similar. Saif is very hands-on with his children.

Kareena and Saif married on October 16, 2012, in Mumbai, following years of courting. He previously married actor Amrita Singh, but the couple divorced in 2004. Saif and Amrita have two children, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif and Kareena have two sons, Taimur and Jehangir (called Jeh).
