Jennifer Lopez abruptly canceled seven gigs from her planned ‘This is me… Now,’ tour due to album failures.
Jennifer Lopez abruptly canceled seven gigs from her “This is me… Now” tour due to album sales failure. It was her first North American tour in five years. The gigs were canceled from August 20th to August 31st in cities such as Cleveland, Nashville, Raleigh, Atlanta, Tampa, New Orleans, and Houston. Some scheduled shows have been completely removed from the Ticketmaster and Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse websites.
Lopez has yet to respond to the news on her social media sites. Ticketholders were advised of the cancellations and informed that reimbursements would be automatic. Ticketmaster’s notification for the cancelled events reads, “Unfortunately, the Event Organizer has had to cancel your event. There is no action required to obtain a refund.” There was no official announcement from Lopez or Live Nation, however Entertainment Weekly stated that a “logistical issue through the promoter” could be the culprit, and the events could be rescheduled in the future.
One fan vented his displeasure on Facebook, writing, “I had tickets for Cleveland, but we got an email that it was cancelled, not sure why, wish she would have made a statement about why some of her shows are cancelled.” Another fan mentioned, “Had tickets to Atlanta, but it was cancelled. I’m very angry because it was my anniversary present.” Although the reason for the cancellations is unknown, Ticketmaster seating charts show that most tour dates had a high amount of unsold tickets.
Furthermore, Variety notes that JLo’s most recent album, “This Is Me… Now,” had a dismal Billboard chart debut, boosting the chance that the tour cancellations are related.
