ISLAMABAD – On Monday, Islamabad police detained Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar and Secretary General Raoof Hassan on charges of encroachment.
According to sources, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Islamabad police began a joint operation against encroachments in the G-8 sector, resulting in the arrest of senior PTI officials.
A team of Islamabad police stormed the PTI’s central secretariat and blocked access ways.
Imran Khan’s lawyer, Ali Ijaz Buttar, said that PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan and Information Secretary Rauf Hassan had been detained by Islamabad police at the party’s office.
“I just received a call from the party’s office informing that 300 to 400 policemen arrived at the [party’s] office and arrested PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar and Information Secretary Raoof Hasan,” X. Buttar tweeted.
The party criticized the move on its official X account and lambasted the Islamabad police.
“It’s absolutely shameful how Islamabad Police continues to completely mock and disregard every law in this country,” stated the opposition group.
The PTI also uploaded video to the X platform, showing multiple police trucks and workers outside the party’s central secretariat.
