ISLAMABAD – Mohsin Naqvi, the federal minister for interior and narcotics control, said on Wednesday that a comprehensive plan against terrorism and extremism should be developed.
He made the statements while presiding over a meeting at the National Counter Terrorism Authority’s (NACTA) headquarters.
Several key decisions were made during the meeting, including reorganizing NACTA on modern lines and placing it at the forefront of the war against terrorism.
The meeting also decided to call a meeting of the Coordination Committee of the National Action Plan in the coming week, chaired over by the Interior Minister.
The minister stated that instead of reacting to each occurrence of terrorism, we must move quickly to destroy terrorists and their enablers.
He requested a detailed report on the effectiveness of all provincial Counter-Terrorism Departments (CTD).
He stated that the development of a National CTD is urgently required for the complete elimination of terrorism. He stated that the National Action Plan should be completely executed.
Rai Tahir, the NACTA chief, provided a thorough briefing to Federal Interior Minister, while Interior Secretary Aftab Akbar Durrani and other top officials were also present.
