As always, the ATAs provide a fantastic opportunity for worldwide anime lovers to cheer on some of the best releases originating from the niche obsession of Japanese animation. The tenth edition of the highly anticipated ceremony was live-streamed on the AniTrendz website and social media channels on March 10 at 11 a.m. JST. Although the 2024 Oscars overshadowed this renowned yearly show, the ATAs were not forgotten. These announcements coincide with the landmark achievement of animation director Hayao Miyazaki, whose film The Boy and the Heron earned him his second Academy Award.
Anime lovers have had a lot to celebrate (and mourn), especially with the Anime Trending Awards coming just over a week after the Crunchyroll Anime Awards mania. While the names of the previous winners were still being sung, the most recent awards ceremony sparked even more excitement. Unlike the Crunchyroll global event, fans’ votes resulted in the biggest triumph for Heavenly Delusion, surpassing Jujutsu Kaisen. Nonetheless, the MAPPA Studio animation did not go down in defeat; it led in several other aspect award categories, in addition to Oshi No Ko’s multiple wins on the big day.
The 10th Anime Trending Awards honored Heavenly Delusion / Tengoku Daimakyo as the best anime of the year.
