ISLAMABAD – Former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry appeared before the Election Commission of Pakistan on Wednesday in a contempt case, stating that he was willing to make another formal apology to the ECP because he believed in apologies.
A four-member bench led by Nisar Durrani heard the contempt case against Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Chaudhry.
The former minister’s brother, Faisal Chaudhry, represented him, while the PTI founder’s counsel was unable to appear owing to another issue in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
The ECP bench asked Chaudhry to remain calm in the future rather than acting rashly.
Chaudhry said that other people, like Captain Safdar, had made extremely disgusting comments about the ECP, but the electoral body had not investigated him, and that reserved seats should be granted to PTI candidates.
Later, the hearing was adjourned until September 4.
