RAWALPINI – After the military detained retired Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, the former spymaster, a Field General Court Martial process was launched.
According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations, “Complying with the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, a detailed court of inquiry was undertaken by Pakistan Army to ascertain the correctness of complaints in Top City Case made against Lt Gen Faiz Hameed (Retd)”.
As a result, appropriate disciplinary action has been taken against him under the provisions of the Pakistan Army Act, it added.
In addition, numerous instances of violation of the Pakistan Army Act after retirement have been documented.
In April, the Pakistan Army formed a high-level commission, led by a major general, to investigate charges that Hameed abused his authority. The charges were made by the proprietor of Top City Housing Society in a suit filed in the Supreme Court of Pakistan in November 2023.

The petitioner claimed that on May 12, 2017, his Top City office and house were raided at Faiz Hameed’s request, and that officers seized valuables like as gold, jewels, and cash from his home.
He stated that Gen Faiz Hameed met him after the raid and assured him of resolving the situation and returning some of the seized items.
The petitioner claimed that 4.67 kilogrammes of gold and cash were not returned to him despite assurances.
FAIZABAD COMMISSION REPORT
An inquiry commission investigating the November 2017 Faizabad sit-in cleared retired Lt Gen Faiz Hameed, the former director general of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), of all allegations.
The three-member commission, appointed by the Supreme Court, delivered a 149-page report.
According to reports, the commission identified several flaws in the management of the problem and prepared recommendations after considering the circumstances surrounding the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s sit-in in Faizabad.
The investigation emphasized the roles of the Islamabad police, the Ministry of Interior, the Punjab government, the ISI, and the IB, as well as data about former law minister Zahid Hamid.
According to the report, the then-army commander and the ISI director general authorized Faiz Hameed, Maj Gen DG (C), to sign the agreement with demonstrators. Furthermore, then-Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and then-Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal agreed that retired General Faiz Hameed would serve as a mediator.
