The operator of Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest airports and the hub of Emirates Airlines, announced on Friday that the airport was back up and running after a global system outage disrupted certain airlines’ check-in processes.
Dubai Airports stated in a statement that the interruption affected several airlines operating from Terminals 1 and 2, but that the check-in process had been moved to an alternative system, allowing normal operations to resume quickly.
Flydubai, which operates from Terminal 2, stated that its operations had not been hampered. Emirates, which operates from Terminal 3, said there has been no impact on flight operations, but there could be some delays later owing to the knock-on effect of delayed departures from several airports.
Etihad Airways, which flies from Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport, also stated that it was operating regularly, but that there could be minor delays across its network.
On Friday, carriers, media businesses, banks, and telecom firms around the world reported system disruptions that were interrupting their operations.
