ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has been facing the dangers of climate change. As a result, the government is stepping in to support climate mitigation efforts.
According to the budget document obtained by Dunya News, the government has taken steps to address the climate change issue.
These steps include:
1. The Pakistan Climate Change Authority is established for climate mitigation and adaptation.
2. The National Climate Finance Strategy will be completed by October 2024 to bring Global Climate Finance to Pakistan. It will facilitate action on projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions.
3. A National Digital Climate Finance Monitoring Dashboard will be created to keep track of data on foreign aid received for climate financing.
4. Gender and Climate Budget. Tagging has been added to the government’s budgeting and accounting system. It will aid in policy formulation and prompt action in these sectors.
5. The government has allocated Rs4 billion for e-bikes and Rs2 billion for fans that use less electricity.
