ISLAMABAD – Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, head of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), slammed the court on Friday for routinely interfering with Parliamentary proceedings.
Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, the PPP chairman slammed the judiciary, claiming that it was setting world records for everything from dam construction to fixing food prices. He chastised the court for constantly interfering in parliamentary affairs.
He slammed the judiciary for declaring a reserved seat ruling in favour of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), claiming that the Supreme Court verdict revived a dead party.
Bilawal lamented that everyone, including politicians, bureaucrats, and ‘powerful individuals’, was in the capital city but unable to serve the reason for which they were brought here, adding that “all of us were busy conspiring against one another”.
He emphasized his concerns about Pakistan’s pervasive divisive politics, claiming that politics of hatred was reaching a climax in the country as politicians from all walks of life continued to name one another as ‘thief and traitor’ rather than addressing the actual problems of Pakistan’s poor. He also claimed that television screens were full of contentious meetings between politicians.
Speaking of the stormy scenario that culminated in violence between the Bangladesh government and students over the military personnel quota system, he suggested that people in the area consider what the true difficulties were in their nations.
He also congratulated Arshad Nadeem for winning the gold medal for Pakistan.
