Legendary Indian musician AR Rahman recently said that as a child, he experienced suicide ideation.
During a conversation about spirituality and mental health with students in the Oxford Union Debating Society, he shared this chapter of his life.
Rahman gave his mother Kareema Baig credit for assisting him in getting better during that trying time in his life.
His mother advised him to “learn to live for others as when you live this way, negative thoughts will not come,” he recalled from the message.
He went on to tell the children that a meaningful life is one in which one is not selfish and lives for others.
Notably, musician AR Rahman is known for his hits “Maan Tujhe Salaam,” “Raanjhana,” and “Jashan Bahara.” Most recently, he performed the hit song “Mein Parwana” from the Bollywood movie “Peeppa,” which was also composed by singer Arjit Singh.
