No Bollywood fan can forget how popular Kajra Re was. The classic dance number from Shaad Ali’s 2005 blockbuster heist comedy Bunty Aur Babli starred Amitabh Bachchan, his son Abhishek Bachchan, and Aishwarya Rai, who married Abhishek a few years later. Amitabh recalls filming Kajra Re.
As Bunty Aur Babli turned 19 this week, Amitabh took to X to share a still from Kajra Re with him, Abhishek, and Aishwarya matching their hook dances. He captioned the photo, “The song became so popular that it still regenerates attention and love .. and the best moments with the song, Bhaiyu, were when we performed this live on stage (namaste and laughing with tears emojis).”
Amitabh and Abhishek performed the song at the 2006 Filmfare Awards, and Aishwarya joined them onstage. As a result, the internet puzzled why Amitabh failed to name Aishwarya in his post, despite the fact that she was definitely the song’s centerpiece. An X user said, “I’m sorry to say, but Kajra Re was all about Aishwarya.” In that song, both of you were simply supporting the dancers. Someone else added, “But the credit for its popularity goes not to you but to Aishwarya, because I believe that if only you were there then it would have been popular, but because of Aishwarya it became most popular (smile emoji).”
“In addition to ‘Bhaiyu’, ‘Bhaiyi’ was mentioned in the song. She is mostly responsible for the song’s success. A third comment stated that no one watches the song for ‘Bhaiyu’ or ‘Senior Bhaiyu’ in song. “You and your son are both irrelevant to this song. “No one will watch this without Aishwarya,” another user remarked on X.
