Amala Paul and Asif Ali recently visited St. Albert’s College in Ernakulam, Kochi, to promote their upcoming film, Level Cross. The internet was outraged to see Amala in a short garment with a plunging neckline, labeling it ‘inappropriate’ and ‘indecent’. The actor responded to this criticism during a news conference, according to Onmanorama. When confronted about the criticism over her dress, Amala responded that she merely wore what she felt comfortable with and did not believe it was wrong. She also indicated that the issue is with how the cameras captured her instead.

She was cited as saying, “The issue is with how the cameras projected my dressing style.” I dressed in whatever made me feel most comfortable. My attire was not unsuitable for the event. What was probably wrong was how the cameras projected my outfit. “I have no control over that.”
Amala further stated that, contrary to popular belief, the students did not feel uncomfortable seeing her in that attire. “The students were completely comfortable with what I was wearing. I wear a variety of attire, both traditional and western. By wearing that outfit, I hoped to instill confidence in kids’ clothing choices,” she explained.

Amala, who gave birth to a newborn boy last month, is currently promoting her Malayalam flick Level Cross, which reaches theaters on Friday. As soon as photos and videos of Amala in the outfit surfaced online, people began making nasty comments.
One comment on the video she shared wearing the dress reads, “Be it a part of promotion or any function, there should be some minimum sense of the dress you wear in an educational institution.” Another person wrote, “Dress appropriately for an educational institution.” One user expressed ‘disappointment’ by writing, “Fashion sense (cross emoji) common sense (tick emoji) Disappointed amala.”
