Abhishek Bajaj says leading TV actors ‘go mute’ when they move to films

.Abhishek Bajaj, who returned to TV after completing Student Of The Year 2 and Babli Bouncer, believes leading TV performers don’t take a stand when they transition to movies.

After appearing in films like as Student Of The Year 2 (2019), Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui (2021), and Babli Bouncer (2022), actor Abhishek Bajaj returned to television after six years with the show Jubilee Talkies. When asked about his comeback, he answers, “I’ve always been on television, so it wasn’t like returning to TV. I would have turned down roughly 80-90 gigs over the course of six years since nothing piqued my interest.

Bajaj has joined the list of performers who have made the shift from small to big screens, but he has a problem about the actors who do so. “I’ve seen several leading actors from the small screen who do excellent work on television but remain silent in films. That is the problem. While you are doing excellent work on television, you suddenly choose minor roles in films simply for the sake of it. I’ve seen actors go mute and rarely have speech. “They need to stand up for themselves,” he says.

‘TV is still the core of Indian households.’
Many people still see the big screen as superior than television, yet he chose to return to it. When you mention this to Bajaj, the 31-year-old responds, “My job as an actor is to blur the line between mediums.” People who believe television is a lesser medium should be aware that it has a wider reach. Many cinema actors have renewed their careers on television, notably Amitabh Bachchan ji, who did Kaun Banega Crorepati, which became a cult program. It’s not a lesser media, and it remains the foundation of Indian households.”

But what prevented him from doing more in film? “After Babli Bouncer, I received similar proposals, and the same was true with Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. People in the industry attempt to be safe, but I don’t operate on that basis. I want to explore and grow, and my new show on television has provided me with that opportunity. “I wasn’t able to reach my full potential in films, and people wouldn’t have seen anything new in me,” he says.
