Chalamet, star of “Wonka,” braves a dystopian desert in “Dune 2.”

The sequel to the highly successful science fiction picture “Dune” tells the story of an environmental fable about power, faith, and fanaticism. “Wonka” actor Timothee Chalamet plays a desert warrior leader.

Following his successful musical role as the renowned chocolate maker, the French-American actor made an appearance in Paris prior to the release of Dune at the end of this month, where he was joined by co-stars Zendaya, Josh Brolin, Austin Butler, and Lea Seydoux.

The sequel to the 2021 film “Dune: Part Two” is where his character, the disinherited prince Paul Atreides, first shows signs of becoming into a vindictive demagogue.

According to Chalamet, 28, “Paul becomes a leader in his mind,” he told reporters. “The most important thing to a man of power, is what he keeps to himself.”

The future epic focuses on current issues: water has grown scarce on the harsh planet where Paul finds himself as a result of industrial resource looting.

American novelist Frank Herbert created the desert universe in the 1960s, where fantastic creatures like enormous worms are commonplace. Hungary, Italy, Jordan, and the United Arab Emirates were the film’s shooting locations.

empowering roles for women

The picture, which was directed by Canadian Denis Villeneuve, a previous Oscar candidate, features strong female characters.

Zendaya, Chalamet’s co-star and former child actor turned “Spider-Man” icon, plays his desert warrior sweetheart Chani, who is hurt by the sacrifices he makes to take on a leadership role. The American actor and model claimed that the director “really gave her strong convictions”.

“He offered her a belief system that defied the beliefs of everyone in her immediate vicinity. It made it possible for me to have complex inner feelings all the time.”

Lea Seydoux, a French actor well-known worldwide for her roles in Mission Impossible and James Bond movies, portrays a mysterious sage who works behind the scenes as a member of the Bene Gesserit.

A recent addition to the film series is Austin Butler, who previously starred in Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks’ “Elvis” and the series “Masters of the Air” directed by Baz Luhrmann.

The sociopath Feyd-Rautha, played by Sting in David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation of Dune, is represented by Californian actor Butler alongside another magnetic villain, played by Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgard (“Chernobyl”, “Andor”).
