IMF refuses exemption on stationery tax as prices go through the roof

ISLAMABAD – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) refused to reduce the levy on stationery goods on Thursday, despite rising pressure on the government from stationery shop owners.

According to sources, virtual negotiations between the government and a worldwide lender failed, resulting in the continuation of taxes on highlighters, punching machines, and pencil boxes.

It should be mentioned that the government levied a 10% sales tax on stationery items, raising the prices by 15%.
