Washington— Republican Senator Marco Rubio has filed a measure in the United States Senate suggesting that India be treated similarly to allies such as Japan, Israel, Korea, and NATO members when it comes to technology exports.
Furthermore, the law aims to aid India in confronting threats to its territorial integrity and attempts to restrict security assistance to Pakistan if it is discovered to be sponsoring militancy against India.
“Communist China continues to aggressively expand its domain in the Indo-Pacific region, all while attempting to undermine the sovereignty and autonomy of our regional partners.” It is critical for the United States to maintain its support in combating these destructive techniques.
“India, along with other nations in the region, is not alone,” Rubio said after proposing the US–India Defense Cooperation Act in the Senate.
The measure emphasizes the importance of the US-India alliance in countering Communist China’s expansionist goals.
The measure argues that improving our strategic political, economic, and military connections with New Delhi is critical to strengthening our bilateral alliance.
It suggests providing India with the essential security assistance to deter adversaries, as well as outlining collaboration in defense, civil space, technology, medical, and economic investment.
