LAHORE – On Tuesday, the Lahore High Court (LHC) summoned the Lahore deputy commissioner and other respondents in connection with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) plea to host a public protest at the Minar-i-Pakistan.
Justice Abid Aziz Sheikh of the LHC heard the PTI’s vice president Sheikh Akmal Khan’s appeal.
It was argued that the PTI should be permitted to stage a public protest on August 14 at Minar-i-Pakistan, as long as the rally did not involve any anti-state action.
The applicant further claimed that the PTI has been politically victimised over the previous few years.
The judge postponed the hearing until next week.
It should be remembered that the PTI had asked the LHC for permission to stage a power display at the Minar-i-Pakistan.
