Eidul Azha on June 17 as Zilhajj moon sighted in Pakistan

Karachi – The Zilhajj moon has been sighted in Pakistan, ushering in the final Islamic month.

This means that people in Pakistan will celebrate Eidul Azha on Monday, June 17.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Syed Abdul Khabir Azad, presided over the meeting. After a few hours of deliberation, the committee declared the new month had begun.

The Zilhajj moon was sighted in Saudi Arabia the day before, and the Muslim country will celebrate Eidul Azha on June 16. According to Saudi authorities, the first day of Zilhajj is on June 7 (Friday).

Eid Forecast for Pakistan

In keeping with tradition, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted a few days ago that Eidul Azha would be celebrated on June 17 (Monday).

According to the Climate Data Processing Centre, the moon of Zilhajj is most likely to be seen on June 7 (Friday), with Eidul Azha falling on June 17 (Monday).

According to the center, the moon will rise at 5:38 p.m. on June 6, with a sunset around 7:20. The moon will likely be visible for 72 minutes after sunset.

To be visible, the moon must be 19 hours old, while at sunset, the moon in Karachi will be 26 hours and 8 minutes.

On Eidul Azha, or the day of sacrifice, Muslims follow Hazrat Ibrahim’s (A.S.) Sunnah by sacrificing an animal to show their obedience to Allah.
