Punjab Forensic Science Agency to be made authority

LAHORE – The Punjab Forensic Science Agency will be granted autonomy.

Interior Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal stated that once the Punjab Forensic Science Agency is granted authority, it will no longer be dependent on other departments.

He stated that the draft law would be passed by the Punjab Assembly. After gaining authorization, officers from the Punjab Forensic Science Agency would be allowed to check the crime scene independently.

The officers will also gather evidence by photographing the crime site. Mengal stated that once the authority is established, officers will be able to use a variety of procedures to track down culprits.

The Punjab Assembly will approve the proposed law that establishes the Punjab Forensic Science Agency as an authority.
