RAWALPINI – General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), called Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of General Staff (CGS) of the Iranian Armed Forces, to express his deep condolences for the tragic and unfortunate helicopter crash on May 19, which resulted in the deaths of President Ebrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahain, and other important officials.
The COAS stated that late President Ebrahim Raisi and late Foreign Minister Amir Abdollahian were great leaders and real friends of Pakistan, according to an Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) news release.
The COAS emphasized that the deaths of both leaders and others were genuinely regrettable and irreversible.
The army chief, on behalf of all ranks of the Pakistan Army, offered prayers for the lost souls and best wishes to the grieving families.
According to the COAS, “Pakistan has historic, cultural and brotherly ties with Iran and the Armed Forces of Pakistan and Iran have always stood together.”
General Bagheri thanked the COAS for sharing his pain and promised that the two military will continue to cooperate.
