Adaa Khan clocks 15 years on the small screen: Opens up on pay parity, increasing competition in the TV industry

Adaa Khan finished 15 years in the television industry on May 25, and the actress discusses how the landscape has changed over time.

Actor Adaa Khan’s 15 years in the television industry have taught her the ins and outs of show business, and as she celebrates the milestone, she says her biggest obstacle has been the industry’s pay discrepancy.

Adaa began her career in 2009 with the program Palampur Express, and then went on to play key roles in shows like Naagin and Sitara: Vish Ya Amrit.

“It is a fantastic feeling that I have maintained for so long. I take care of my own company. I am a professional who has followed ethical practices that have proven successful. I feel loved and blessed. Fans’ adoration is undoubtedly a pleasant sensation. I’ve had my fair share of ups and downs, but I’ve learned valuable lessons. “My late mother’s memories and support will always stay with me,” says the actress, who is grateful to everyone.

Speaking on her changing times in the television industry, the actor, who celebrated 15 years in show business on Saturday, adds, “With the industry changing, there is inequality in payment structures, and shows close quickly. “So many people are vying for one role.”

She says, “Competition has increased, and finding the proper role is a struggle. People used to get jobs based only on their talent, but today everyone looks at social media and judges based on the amount of followers. Also, many people are willing to work for nearly nothing.

However, the 35-year-old actor’s path is marked by some high points. When asked what she remembers most vividly, she mentioned being a part of acclaimed shows.

“I was appreciated for all of my roles. I did Naagin and Comedy Nights Bachao, which were top-rated fiction and nonfiction shows, respectively. At the same time, I felt like a star. Naagin contributed significantly to popularity. I don’t take my celebrity status too seriously, and that helps me stay grounded. I enjoy life and take it one day at a time, she says.

Being an actor entails always being open to public criticism and remarks, particularly from social media trolls.

Deepika Padukone, who is expecting her first child with husband Ranveer Singh, was recently targeted by trolls for her walk to the polling station.
Adaa lashes out at these attackers, saying, “It is stupid to troll anyone who has gone to do her democratic duty of voting.” It is inappropriate to judge pregnancy based on a baby bump. Celebrities are public figures, but their private cannot be invaded.

She adds, “Trolling on social media and leaving unpleasant remarks can be disturbing. Everyone must be responsible when commenting on social media. It’s easy to argue that celebrities should disregard it. It doesn’t make you feel wonderful. “There should be some guidelines for personal comments.”
