ISLAMABAD – Raoof Hasan, a spokesperson for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was injured after being attacked by unknown individuals in Islamabad on Tuesday evening.
According to onlookers, four thugs attacked him outside a private news channel in G7 Markaz. They claimed the perpetrators used an item to strike his face.
The perpetrators left after onlookers gathered to prevent them from assaulting Hasan. During the incident, the PTI leader sustained facial injuries. He has been sent to the hospital and is being treated for his injuries.
Shibli Faraz, the PTI leader, has denounced the attack. While speaking in the Senate, he asked the government to take strong action against the perpetrators.
Later, PTI legislators stormed out of the upper house of parliament in protest of the attack on the party’s top leader.
In a statement, Islamabad police stated a blade was used to strike the PTI spokesperson, and that evidence was being collected at the scene.
