2015 saw Malik leave the boyband. Thanking his supporters for their patience, he acknowledged that it “took a while” during the London performance.
In many respects, Zayn Malik’s most recent performance was a historic one.
In addition to being the singer’s first headline solo performance, the sold-out event on Friday, May 17 at London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire marked his first public appearance since departing One Direction in 2015.
Malik, 31, described the evening as “unforgettable” on Instagram after performing songs from his most recent album, Room Under the Stairs, live for the first time for fans at the West London venue.
In footage of the historic performance that fans recorded, Malik also said to the enthralled audience, “I missed this.” In a little video that he posted, he also expressed gratitude to his followers for “all of the love and support over the years” and for bearing with him, acknowledging that it “took a while.”
He remarked during the show, “This is an exciting night.” “I hope you all have a great night, and I’m very grateful to you all.”
Malik has avoided the stage since going solo more than nine years ago. He has put out multiple solo albums and had successes like “PILLOWTALK” and “Dusk Till Dawn” that reached the top of the charts.
