Pakistan to launch another satellite after ICUBE-Q success

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has announced plans to launch another satellite lunar mission following the historic success of the first ICUBE-Qamar mission.

The upcoming satellite, MM 1, is scheduled to launch on May 30 and will use cutting-edge technologies to strengthen the nation’s communications infrastructure.

MM 1 is designed to meet the growing demands of the telecom sector and promises to revolutionize communication by allowing for the seamless integration of 5G networks and internet services.

SUPARCO, the national space agency, is leading the effort to redefine connection standards.

SUPARCO has announced that three moon rounds have been completed, after the victory of ICUBE-Q’s initial image on Friday.

Currently in orbit, ICUBE-Q is undergoing extensive testing of controllers, subsystems, and protocols in preparation for the experimental phase when it reaches lunar orbit in the next 5 to 6 days.

The mission’s trajectory will see the satellite circle the moon for an estimated 3 to 6 months, signaling a significant step forward in Pakistan’s space efforts.

Pakistan’s historic participation with China’s Chang’e 6 mission marked its foray into lunar exploration, making it the world’s sixth nation to launch its first moon satellite.

The satellite ICUBE-Q, built and developed by IST in conjunction with China’s Shanghai Jiatong University SJTU and SUPARCO, was launched on May 3 from the Hainan Space Launch Site.
