Karachi – Following the announcement of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), the Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA) has also declared a boycott of today’s (Saturday) presidential election, according to Dunya News.
Pir Sadaruddin Shah Rashdi, GDA leader, spoke at a news conference in Karachi and announced his support for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in protest at what he called election rigging.
Earlier, a delegation from the Pakistan People’s Party led by Yousuf Raza Gilani met with Maulana Fazlur Rehman and urged his help in the presidential election. However, Fazlur Rehman informed the PPP that his party will not support any contender in the presidential election.
Maulana Fazlur Rahman, when speaking to the group, further stated that it is my party’s determination that we would not vote for anyone in the presidential election, and I am bound by that choice.
